This year, the San Manuel Adopt-a-Family program—an enterprise-wide event where departments work together—assisted a total of 100 area families this year with presents and other items to brighten their holiday season.
As they did in 2020, team members provided gifts to families living within the Serrano ancestral lands of San Bernardino and the Barstow area. The Tribe partnered with two local nonprofits it has supported in the past—Desert Sanctuary Inc., which provides social services in Barstow, and Iglesia Cristiana Misionera Supremo Llamamiento, which provides various community resources in San Bernardino.
Additionally—for the third consecutive year—the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians supported the annual Spark of Love toy drive with a $25,000 grant, partnering with KABC-Channel 7 to support the greater Inland Empire. The Spark of Love campaign—celebrating its 29th year in 2021—collects new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens in San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, and Ventura counties. All toys collected in each county are distributed within that same community. Over the years, Spark of Love has collected more than nine million toys.
