On June 22, the Cahuilla Band of Indians hosted a blessing of the new basketball court for its Kéwet Event, a cultural gathering filled with sports and activities. The blessing followed a $100,000 grant from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians in late 2022 to help the Cahuilla Tribe bring this project to life. The current facility is being used by Inter Tribal Sports, one of San Manuel’s nonprofit partners under the healthy and resilient communities giving pillar, and is intended to encourage active and healthy living among Tribal youth and Tribal Members. Additionally, the facility will be used for various community and cultural events, as well as family gatherings and games.
